Lesson Plan Title : Existentialism

 

Topic to Teach : What is Existentialism ?

 

Goal : We will explain what Existentialism is to students. This will help  students who will be  going into teaching decide if they want to incorporate Existentialism  in their classroom.

 

Objectives :

 

 

·        The students will understand what Existentialism is.

·        What type of Philosophy is Existentialism it’s a Student-Centered Philosophy .

·        Who are some of the people that subscribe to Existentialism

·        How popular Existentialism is in public and private schools today

·        What are some advantages to using Existentialism

·        What are some disadvantages to Existentialism

 

 

Materials : Textbook : Teachers, Schools, and Society, Power Point presentation, Video clips, Quiz,  and word search puzzle.

 

Anticipatory Set:

 

Begin by showing a funny video.

 

 

 

Step-By-Step Procedures :

 

1.     Show video clips on Existentialism.

 

2.     Go over the major points regarding Existentialism by doing a Power Point Presentation.

 

3.     Assess student learning by giving a quiz .The quiz will be made up of fill in the blank answers and true or false questions.

 

4.     We will go over the quiz with the students to make sure they grasped the information that was taught. Also ask students if they have any questions.

 

5.     We will hand out a word search puzzle for them to complete.

 

 

Assessment Based On Objectives : Students will be assessed by the  quiz covering the major points of Existentialism.

 

 

Closure: Summarize key points covered in Lesson and ask students if they have any questions and end with another video.
